The MIDI / DMX512 Generator is designed to control a DMX512 lighting bus by means of MIDI channel messages as well as with System Exclusive messages.

Commands are fed into the DMX512 Generator by the MIDI IN connector. Response messages are returned from the MIDI OUT connector. 

Selection of different MIDI channels is done with the rotary switch "Ch/Mode": 

Primarily, the MIDI / DMX512 Generator is controlled by MIDI channel messages.

As an alternative, the MIDI / DMX512 Generator can be controlled by a simple ASCII text based syntax, which is embedded into SysEx frames. 

A green LED signals the presence of data traffic and sufficient supply voltage.
